Kim Eickelschulte, New Residents: Kim introduced new resident, Diane Johns, 303 Wolverine (again); new snowbird residents, Denny & Pam Young, at 286 Garden; and also new snowbird residents, Ron & Karen Cornish, at 323 Beaver Lane from Ohio.
Visitors: Joanne Maag, Sycamore, introduced her best friend, Cindy. Cindy helped Joanne drive her car down as the Maag’s are now fulltime residents.
Shari Haines, Serendipity: Today we can thank the Horseshoe Club for our pastries. And when someone pays for the donuts and muffins the Social Club furnishes the coffee and tea.
Welcome back Snowbirds!!! The back tables are up – ticket central is in full swing (we need our own ATM machine in the Clubhouse) – first dance of the season was Saturday night and if you were not here you missed a good time – “Elvis” was in the house Tuesday night for potluck. The season has begun!!
Sympathy to David Bland, Anchor, on the death of this brother, Michael, on November 1st.
I am sorry to report the death of Earl Floyd on Tuesday morning. Earl and Carol were snowbird residents at 248 Prairie for many years. Earl was 82 years old. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carol, a son Michael, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Cards and words of condolence can be sent to Carol at 550 N Douglas, Unit G, Ripon, WI.

Marcia Besser, Out of Park Activities: Marcia reported this morning that the tr bus to the Hard Rock Casino will be up front on Wednesday. Everyone should be there by 8:45 am. Fishermen’s Village on December 6th; cost is $74. Tampa Bay Downs is January 18; cost is $80. The Mystery Trip on March 7th it is full; there is another on March 8th. Also Mount Dora Boat Cruise second date March 29th. Check the Board; all kinds of trips.
Announcements
Bill announced Woodcarvers will start next Thursday, November 10th at 1 pm at the Hammock: Art Club is meeting Thursday nights at 6 pm in the Card Room; Double deck Pinochle is played on Monday evenings 6 pm in the Card Room; and Double deck euchre is played on Wednesday evenings at 6 pm in the Card Room.
Mike Mikolayek, Dance Committee: The Social Club we will have Jim Weaver from Weaver/Loveless in Lake Wales here to explain “Why you should have a will or a trust” before our regular Social Club Meeting.
Also, on November 19th will be have a new person “Rockin Robin” doing karaoke. Tickets will be available next Thursday.
The Social Club needs someone to volunteer to chair the Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner. We hope some one will step up to the plate,
Social Club Membership Drive will start the middle of December. Memberships are only $5.
Richard Horner: Richard expressed our gratitude to Bill & Carole Davis for the many hours they do “CAPS”.
Richard is continued to accept donations for the piano. We still need about $2400 to complete this project. He is hoping to get this debt paid by the end of 2022.
Richard also announced church services will be held on Sundays, at 8 am. This Sunday he will be speaking on “Freedom is not Free”. Then on Sundays at 6 pm there will be a series on the book of Revelations.
Al Granato, Corn Hole: Al is having the annual Corn Hole Fundraiser for the maintenance on the facility. They are raffling off 5 - $50 gift cards to local restaurant (Manny, Crazy Fish, Sizzlin Grill, Harry’s Old Place and Cherry Pockets). The tickets are $5 apiece and they only sell 250 tickets. Winners will be announced when all tickets are sold. You do not be here to win. Also, Al encouraged everyone to come up and play. They play every Tuesday and Friday with practice from 8:30 – 9 am; games begin at 9 am sharp. Everyone is welcome!!
Betty Akerman: Betty reminded us the Carport Sale is coming up. It will be held on Saturday, December 10 with preview day being Friday, December 9. There is a cost of $5 to have your address put on the map (this is to cover the advertising). If you want to rent a table (first come first serve) the cost is $7, 2 tables are $12, 3 tables are $15. There is a limit of 3 tables. Sarah in the office will be accepting reservations for tables (cash only) beginning Wednesday, November 16. No phone calls, no saves, cash only.
Irene Bland, Christmas Committee: The Committee is responsible for decorating the Clubhouse, the front entrance and the island on Sunshine. Volunteers are needed to help (1 or 2 hours) on the Friday before Thanksgiving, November 18, starting at 8 am. Take down is January 8. There is a sign-up sheet to volunteer in the back. They do need volunteers to be members of the committee.
Shirley Moore, Red Hatters: The Red Hatters will be going to the Back Porch at the Barn on November 15. We will carpool; meet out front at 11: 20 am. Please sign up on the sheet on the bulletin board in the west hall.
Jack Gerros, Entertainment: The potluck show on Tuesday was awesome. The ticket packages for November and December are ready for pick up for those who have reserved. Please pick them up by next week; otherwise, they will be put out for sale. Thanks to Jim Biddle and Bill Mulvay for filling in last week.
George Taylor, Shuffleboard/Golf: George announced that Shuffleboard is played on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays. They are going to be offering “Introduction to Shuffleboard” on two Wednesdays on December (7th & 14th) and possibly more after the holidays in January.
George will be organizing the traveling golf group (previously led by Paul and Jeff Serveau). The first event on Friday, November 11, Bo will be at Lake Wales and the first one on Monday, December 5 at River Green.
Bob Schmidt, Vets: Bob announced that there will be a program to honor the Vets on Friday, November 11 at 11 am at the flagpole. A golf cart parade will precede the program starting at the Clubhouse at 10 am. Refreshments will be served in the Clubhouse after the program.
Karen Millman, Pateo: Karen reminded everyone that the Pateo will be serving their Chili Cheese Dogs on Friday at 5 @ 5. They plan to be ready to serve at 4:30 as people come back from the Poker Run.
Rick Maag, President of the Boat Club: Rick reported that immediately following the Coffee this morning the Boat Club will have their first meeting of the season in the Card Room. Next Saturday, November 12, the Boat Club will be serving breakfast from 7:30 to 9 am in the Clubhouse, the cost is $5. Tickets are being sold.
Brenda Rollins, Secretary of the Board of Directors: Your email address is needed so that you can get the information from the Office. If you have not already filled out the forms see Brenda or Marilyn Rhodes. Also, you need to let the office know who is responsible for mowing your lawn.
Mary Anne Sammon: Mary Anne reported that the Poker Run will be held on Friday, November 4, starting at 2 pm at the Hammock. There is a poster and signup sheet on the bulletin board for those who would like to participate. There is no running involved. You will use your golf cart. The cost is $5 per sheet. Afterwards the Pateo will be serving their chili cheese dogs.
The Employees Recognition Picnic will be held on Saturday, November 12, 1-4 pm at the Hammock. The lunch will be served at 2 pm. Everything will be furnished but your beverage of choice.
Ladies Christmas Luncheon which will be held on Wednesday, December 14 starting at 11:30 am. Ticket will be $10 and there will be a $10 optional gift exchange (not mandatory). Ticket will be sold starting on November 10 (for 4 weeks).
Melinda Cole, Spanish Club: The Spanish Club has just ended their first session of classes with a festive. Another session will be start in January. No firm date has been set. A sign-up sheet will be put up. Possibly there will be a beginner session and an intermediate session.
