Announcements
Mary Anne Sammon: Mary Anne reminded us that the “Meet & Greet” for new residents here in the Park will be held on the second Tuesday of every month in the Clubhouse at 7 pm; Mary Anne also thanked those who continue to bring the coupons from the Tuesday ads that we all received in our mail for Betty Holmes; and Tina Clapper , 181 Keystone, (567-203-2309) has started a little business pulling weeds and trimming small bushes.
Kathy Caputo: Kathy reported that as many of us know, the DOT has approved a Work Order for the off-set intersection. A Public Hearing date is set for
Thursday, September 22nd
Haines City Civic Center (Lake Eva Park).
555 Ledwith Avenue
Hearing starts at 5 pm/should end by 7 pm
The Hearing will cover our intersection as well as four other locations along Highway 27 in Haines City. Tim Horst, the Safety Specialist, at the DOT urges us to be preset to support the intersection. As the date gets closer, perhaps we could arrange car pools to the Civic Center as it is only a few minutes away. Kathy want to again thank the number of volunteers who obtained signatures during the early petition drive and those who have offered encouragement and support during so many discouraging denials. It has been a long process; but it proves the petition, persistence and perseverance bring reward.
Candy Straebel, Emergency Preparedness: Candy reported that there are a couple of storms out there off the coast of Africa. The next weeks are historically the busiest time for these storms. It is time “to have a plan”. If you need assistance, Polk County will come and pick you up and take you to the appropriate shelter. The forms to register for this service are available here in the Clubhouse and the Office. The website of Polk County has a wealth of information on preparedness. Be sure to have your “to go box” ready (with your important papers); make sure you have plenty of bottled water; keep your gas tanks full. The Clubhouse will be open during the day bu-t not for overnight stays. “HAVE A PLAN”!!! Questions contact Candy at 49 Prairie, 856-392-6643.
Melinda Cole: The sign-up list is on the Bulletin Board in the west hall for the Spanish Class. This class will begin on Wednesday, September 7 at 1 to 3 pm in the Card Room. It will be held in Mondays and Wednesdays. Melinda will have the supplies that you will need for you.
