Announcements
Before “announcements” this morning Mary Anne Sammon reminded us of the coupons that come in the Tuesday. She introduced Betty Holmes, Sycamore. Betty uses these coupons to purchase items for the needy. If you have any unused coupons, please save them and give them to her, Char Pickereign or Mary Anne.
Mike Mikolayek, Director of Social Club: Mike reported that the second Thursday in November the Social Club will have attorney, Jim Weaver, from Lake Wales to tell us why you should have a trust instead of a will and also his office does work pertaining your certificates (shares). This will be after the Social Club Meeting that follows Coffee.
Mike also introduced Melinda Cole who is going to start a Language Club.
Melinda Cole, Language Club: Melinda will be starting a Language Club here in LRV. She will be teaching Spanish to those who are interested. They will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays in the Card Room from 1 – 3 pm. They will start on Wednesday, September 7. A signup sheet will be on the Bulletin Board in the west hall.
Barb Norsen: Barb informed us that her AOL email account was hacked yesterday. She is working with AOL to resolved this problem, but if you got an email from her yesterday just disregard it and delete it.
Also, Line Dance classes will start in the first week of October on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 11 am – noon here in the big room in the Clubhouse.
Warren Law: Warren & Marlene have found that Polk County Schools have a 4-year grants “No child goes hungry” that provided breakfast and lunch “free” for those students who have a need. Polk County serves over 11 million lunches and breakfast every year. There is a need for shirts for uniforms. These shirts are only $10. They also need pencils, markers, erasers, Kleenex and hand sanitizers. If you would like to help, Marlene is getting a number or address where you can donate for uniform shirts. (If you want to help out; contact Warren or Marlene and they will give you where to donate – do not give Warren a check or money). A container will be put here in the Clubhouse for donations of school supplies. Children are on Warren and Marlene’s hearts. They are guardian ad litems. They have been doing this for 10 years and next Wednesday the last child that they have been mentoring will be adopted.
Jerry Sammon, VP of the Board of Directors: There will be a Town Hall Meeting on Monday morning at 9 am to bring us up to date on what is going on around the Park. If interested, plan to attend on Monday at 9 am.
Shirley Moore, Red Hatters: Red Hatters will be going to lunch at Cherry Pockets on Monday, August 22. The signup sheet will be on the Bulletin Board in the west hall. They will meet at the Clubhouse at 11:30 am to get everyone loaded.
