Lake Region Coffee News – July 14, 2022

Roger Wilcox was the MC today

Attendance – 62

Kim Eickelschulte, New Residents:  There were no new residents for Kim to introduce this morning

Visitors: Russ Isham, Hawkeye, introduced their son, Steve, and their grandchildren, Joey, Abby and Ellen.  Also, Susan Yaeger, Prairie, introduced her granddaughter, Lucia, from Tennessee.

Shari Haines, Serendipity: Today we can thank Donna Grace for our donuts and muffins in celebration of her birthday on June 27th.   And when someone pays for the pastries, the Social Club provides the coffee and tea.

Former resident, Sandra Galyan, is hospitalized at Centennial Hospital in Nashville, TN.  She has a brain bleed.  They have a surgeon there who will be doing the surgery procedure on Sandra.  Please keep Sandra in your thoughts and prayers.

Bruce and I will be in Illinois for the next two Thursdays.  In fact, if the airline is on time next Thursday we will be landing in Bloomington before Coffee starts.  It will be a real family vacation – both sons and daughters in laws; our five grandchildren and their spouses or significant others and of course, Peyton, our great grandson.  I feel like it is a miracle at this time that we can get all of them in one place for 4 days to spend with the old folks.  While I am gone Barb Norsen has graciously agreed to pitch hit for me here at Coffee.  Your email next week may be a little late as I don’t know how the WIFI will be at the lake house and it may have to wait until Monday when we get back to our son’s house in Batavia.

Announcements

Ray Hagen:  Ray invited us all to a free August Dance.  It will be held on Saturday, August 20, from 7 – 10 pm – the Dogs Days of Summer Dance.  It will be held here in the Clubhouse.

Jerry Sammon, VP Board of Directors: First, after the Informational BOD meeting/Town Hall Meeting we had been requested to let the resident who mow their own lawn be allow to start their mowing at 7:30 am (this is for residents only not outside mowers).  This will be effective immediately.  The other thing in our efforts to clean up this Park we have been talking about doing a census to find out which homes that are not occupied or haven’t been occupied in the last year. So, they can be check and “up to stuff”.

Betty Akerman:  Betty reminded us that Bingo will be held this afternoon in the Clubhouse at 1 pm.

Shirley Moore, Red Hatters:  Red Hatters will be going to lunch at Southern Dunes on Monday, July 25.  They will leave the park at 11:30 am.  A new tradition has been started – they are NOW going to have a door prize every month. All ladies are invited to participate.  If you do not have a red hat. Shirley still has a couple at home.
