Shari Haines, Serendipity: Today we have to thank Jerry Sammon in celebration of his birthday on May 31 and Ken and Linda Billings in celebration of their 62nd wedding anniversary on June 4th for our own pastries.  And when someone pays for the donut and muffins the Social Club pays for our coffee and tea.

Emil Martel, Green Mountain, is hepatized and is in need of our prayers.

I received an email from Martha Whitesell want to thank you all for the cards and words of sympathy.  She is appreciative of the many people that care and are good friends.  Thanks again

I also have a thank you from Chris Laneuville for all the cards, calls and prayers.  They are much appreciated.  It’s great having such good friends.  Larry is now in hospice care.

I am sorry to report the death of Sarah Hausman, 329 Beaver Lane.  Sarah died in an auto accident last week near Charleston, SC.  Sarah was a fulltime resident of Lake Region Village, originally from Newport News, VA.  She is survived by her husband, Pete, and brother, Jerry Freeman who also lives in LRV.  She and Pete have been married for 4 1/2 years but together for 20+ years.  A Celebration of Life will be held in the Clubhouse here at LRV on Saturday, June 11, at 1 pm. Please keep Sarah's family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

Also, I have to report the death of Craig Bowen, 258 Pelican, this week.  He was a snowbird from Elk Rapids, MI.  Craig was 62 years old.  He purchased his home here in LRV on Pelican in October of 2020.  Also include Craig’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

A moment of silence for Sarah Hausman and Craig Bowen

Some good news made its way into my email this week.  Ed Harr, Peacock, won gold medals in Men's singles and Mixed Doubles bowling with his partner and bronze in the team event with his three partners from NY in the bowling segment of the National Senior Games held in Fort Lauderdale May 13-19.

Announcements

Barb Norsen, Potluck:  Potluck is this Tuesday, June 7, at 5:30.  The signup sheet is on the Bulletin Board in the west hall.   You do not need to sign up for any particular dish, but we were short of meat dishes last month so we could use a few more this month.  Hope to see all of you on Tuesday.   Also, the Donut Man does not have a delivery person for the month of June.  We need a volunteer to go pick up the donuts for the rest of the month. Contact Joy Haskiell.

Betty Akerman:  Betty reminded us of the need to be prepared for hurricane season.  There is a check list of things that should be in your emergency preparedness kit on the cabinets in the Card Room.  If we are going to have a hurricane, we encourage you to leave and shelter (local hotel or shelter designated by Polk County). No matter the hurricane category a manufactured home is not safe in a hurricane.  If you chose to shelter in place, you are on your own.  Emergency Services do not operate until the storm has passed.  Make sure your contact information is up to date at the office before leaving the park.  Be Prepared!!  Website:  floridarevenue.com has a list of all the items that are tax free until June 10.  Information is also available on floridadisaster.org and polkcounty.net/emergencymanagement.  The special needs shelters for those who needs these services.  If you have neighbor or friends who needs these services, please make them aware of this and make sure they have a plan.  Polk County is very good with this, but you do need to register for this service.   Plan for the worst and hope for the best.  Have a Plan.  After a storm we will looking for volunteers for help with the cleanup.

A group has been formed to go over the “Rules and Regulations” for here in the Park.  Some feel they need to be a little tighter or have a bite to them.  They need updated (new things added, somethings taken out).  The Committee is completed with 8 people, but we do want your input.  If you have suggestions put them in writing and you can email them to Betty at bettyakerman.aol, in envelope on her clip or you can mail them – 340 Aloha.  Betty suggested make two columns “Pros” and Cons” or “Loves” and “Hates”.  They will look at them and take them into consideration.

Also, Quarter Bingo today at 1 pm.  Don’t forget.

Shirley Moore, Red Hatters:  There were 16 Red Hatters who went to lunch last month at Floridinos.  Red hatters will be going to lunch at Olive Garden on Wednesday, June 20.  We will meet at the Clubhouse at 11:30 am.  A signup sheet will be on the Bulletin Board in the west hall.

Charlie Sponcil, President of the Board of Directors:  There is a gentleman who wants to bring a snow cone machine in the Park.  By a show of hands there was no interest in this.

Mike Mikolayek, Social Club:  The week of June 13 the Clubhouse will be closed to clean and wax the floors.  There will be no Coffee, Cards, etc. that week.  Help is needed on June 13 at 7 am to take all the chairs and tables out and power wash them. And then we will set the hall back up on Saturday, June 18, at

8 am.

Jerry Sammon, VP of the Board of Directors:  The Clubhouse will be open during storms (very restrictive).  There were many problems the last time the Clubhouse was open during a storm.  It will be unmanned; you enter at your own risk.

A shout out of “Thanks” goes to
