Visitors: Trudy Rosen, Mustang, introduce their nephew. Greg, and his wife, Linda visiting from Texas.

Kim reminded us of the mailbox in the front room for your Christmas Cards. Please stop and pick your cards up or you can even take all the cards for your street and deliver them.

Shari Haines, Serendipity:  Today we can thank Donna Elias for our donuts & muffins in celebration of Bill Turner’s 103rd birthday on December 6.  And when someone pays for the pastries, the Social Club furnishes the coffee and tea.

Dave Parker, Empire, is now under hospice care.  Dave would appreciate short visits

Char Link, Pelican, has begun her treatments.

Any other health concerns this morning that we need to be aware of?

Just a reminder – the Quilt Club is collecting non-perishable food under our Christmas tree in the back.  This food will be delivered to House Blest in Haines City next Thursday, December 15, afternoon.  If you would like to make a monetary donation, give it to me or any Quilt Member.  Check can be made out to the Quilt Club and we will combine all donations into one check.  Thank you all for all you have already donated.

The Christmas Dance has been rescheduled for Friday, December 9, from 7-10 pm.  Tickets are $5 per person and are available at the door. Even if you don’t dance plan to attend and enjoy the music provided by Kevin Brooks.  He is a fantastic entertainer.

I hope you were here on last Sunday afternoon for the Festival of the Trees.  This year’s winner was the Village Choir tree.  Wonderful refreshments were served by the Canadians.  Next years hosts will be the Red Hatters.

Just one more reminder, the Social Club will meet immediately following coffee this morning.  Brian Haas, the State Attorney for the 10th Judicial Circuit, will be there to tell us about scams/hacks and how to avoid being a victim

Barb Norsen, Newsletter:  Barb reminded everyone to stay after Coffee this morning for the Social Committee.  Also starting next Thursday through the end of January we will be selling Social Committee memberships.  The are $5 per person.  The Social Committee uses this money pays for the coffee and tea for every Coffee and all the supplies that goes with it.

Barb also announced that we have a volunteer to organize and chair Christmas Dinner.   Linda Mauk Davis will coordinate and she started selling tickets this morning.  The tickets are $10 person and a side dish to share.  The menu will include baked ham, scalloped potatoes and a sweet potato casserole. Volunteers are needed to help her.

Leah Richard:  Leah announced that she is selling raffle tickets every Thursday until January 26.  The winner will get all thirteen table runners that are on display today.  Proceeds will go to “World Central Kitchen” for feeding the Ukraine soldiers.

Patsy Zumwalt & Donna Stapleton, 5 @ 5 guys:  Friday night the t5 @ 5 guys will be serving taco salad and water at the Hammock.  That 5 @ 4 because of the time change.  Five years ago in December, Donna, Patsy, Bobbi Haddix and Violet Platt had the vision to start the “New Project Fund” and do all the stuff behind the Clubhouse.  They have gotten at least 77 men to help with these projects.  They have had a great time doing this – 5 years of success.  Thankful for all the 5 @ 5 guys and all LRV residents who have supported us.  This Friday at the Hammock will be our final 5 @ 5 at the Hammock for the New Project Fund.  We are retiring.  Hope to see you there.  They will complete the cactus garden that has been started and the remaining money will be used for the maintenance of our project. Thank you for all your support.

Donna thanked Patsy for including her in this wonderful, great project. Patsy had a great vision and has done so much for this park.

Lanny Hegadorn, Canada Night & Hamjammers:  Canada Night will be held Saturday, February 4.  It will be dinner and a dance – appetizers at 5, dinner at 5:30.  Reserve seating will be arranged in the Card Room on Saturday, January 27 at 9 am.  Tickets will go on sale on Thursday, January 5th.

Hamjammers will be your entertainment for the January Potluck on January 3rd. They are trying to help out with the fundraising for the hammock extension.  All donations will be appreciated.

Also, there is a resident in the park that has a project that uses the non-winner 50/50 tickets. Please place them in the bag back by the sound booth

Beth Pippin, Craft Club:  Last week Bev told us about the students of Gina DiPaolo at Ridge High School that are homeless. LRV is awesome.  In a week’s time we have collected 41 new blankets for these kids.  It is enough for each student to have a blanket.  It seems when we share a need to Lake Region, that needs are met quickly.  These blankets and the hygiene products will be distributed school counselor.  Thank you, Lake Region, for your caring hearts – you are an amazing family – you are awesome.

Shirley Moore, Red Hatters:  The next place the Red Hatters are going to go to in December is the Hotel Jacaranda in Avon Park on December 27.  The cost will be collected before we go.   There are 23 women already signed up.  There is a sign-up sheet on the Bulletin Board. They are still looking for some great door prizes to be donated.

Jack Gerros, Entertainment: Jack announced that the Christmas Show/Rock and Roll Music will be held on Tuesday, December 13.  The first part of the show will be Rock ‘n Roll 50’s. 60’s music and the second half will be Christmas music.  There will be a lot of high energy entertainment.  It will be also of fun. There are few reserved seats are still available or general admission tickets can be purchased at the door.

Betty Akerman:  Betty reminded us the Carport Sale is coming up.  It will be held on Saturday, December 10 with preview day being Friday, December 9. Food will be served in front of the Clubhouse.  Proceeds will go toward the roof extension at the Hammock (Betty has several more projects planned to raise money for this.  If you would like to make a donation, you can give it to Betty or Shari Haines).   There are 40 houses that are participating in the Carport Sale.

Al Granato, Corn Hole:  Al is having the annual Corn Hole Fundraiser for maintenance on the facilities and needs.  He is selling chances for a $50 gift card to six different local restaurants – Manny’s, Sizzlin Grill, Crazy Fish, Harry’s Old Place, and Cherry Pocket.

Al encourages us all to come up and play.  The recently had 92-year-old women come up and play.  Everyone can play.  They play on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 8:30 practice and 9 am the games start.  You do not have to join the league to participate. Stop and buy a ticket and thanks for your support.

Rick Maag, Boat Club: Rick thanked everyone who came to the Membership Breakfast last Saturday. Boat Club memberships are being sold this Thursday and next Thursday and then again after the first of the year.  Memberships are $5 person.  This membership entitled you to attend the Membership Breakfast next year.  Therefore, it actually cost you nothing to be a member of the Boat Club.

The Christmas Golf Cart Parade was held last Saturday.  Thanks to all who decorated their cart and also for all the people who enjoyed the parade.  The winners were:

Christmas gift suggestions:

To your enemy, forgiveness.

To an opponent, tolerance.

To a friend, your heart.

To a customer, service.

To all, charity.

To every child, a good example.

To yourself, respect."
