Kim Eickelschulte, New Residents: There were no new residents this morning for Kim to introduce.

Visitors:  Joanna Powell introduced her son, Nathan, from Nashville, TN;  Lu Wescott introduced her daughter, Linda from Las Vegas; and Ed Warren introduced their friends Linda Rinehart and Ruth Klinedence, from York County, PA.

Shari Haines, Serendipity: Today we have to thank Donna Grace & Augie Nelson in celebration of the 17th wedding anniversary on March 11; and Brad & Maureen Smith in celebration of their grandson, Isaac’s 14th birthday on March 5 for our donuts and muffins.   And when someone pays for the pastries, the Social Club furnishes the coffee and tea.

I don’t have any reports of health concerns this week.   I know that several of us have had or do have that wonderful “C” disease.  I have everyone is on the mends and being careful.  I  will be delivering the quilt that I have on display this weekend with a quick trip to Illinois and Milwaukee, WI.  The quilt is a gift to my grand niece who is getting married in Milwaukee on Saturday and then on Sunday I will be attending a bridal for our grandson’s fiancé in Naperville, IL.  After a little rest and lunch with a good friend on Monday, I fly back here on Tuesday.

          Marcia Besser, Out of Park Activities:  Marcia announced that all trips are on the Board.  If you are going to the Hard Rock and you have your card that you use for betting, please give Marcia the numbers so that she can turn them in.  If you don’t have a card, they will get you one.  If you are going on the Mt Dora Boat Cruise, you need to make sure you have made your meal selection. 

 

 

Announcements

Lanny announced the Blood Drive will be Monday, March 26, from 9 am until 2 pm. Sunday, March 19 at 2:30pm the Barbershop Chorus will preform at the Calvary Baptist Church on Overlook Drive.  Ticket at $20 ahead or $25 at the door. 

Barb Norsen, Social Club & Line Dancers:  Barb announced the Line Dancers are sponsoring a Free Dance on Tuesday, March 11 at 7 pm in the Clubhouse.  There will be all kinds of music.

She, also is looking for volunteers to go door to door for secure membership for the Social Club.   It is all organized by streets.  Please consider to volunteer to canvas your street.

Jinx Rogers:  Jinx reminded that the Pateo Group will be selling tickets to the Spring Fling the next two Thursdays at Coffee. There will lots of door prizes and baskets to win.  Tickets are $10.

Donna Williams, Craft Club:  The Craft Club will meet on Friday in Card Room.  They were going to make he “board bunny” but the leader will be available.  So, this Friday they will be making “no sew” blankets.  The blankets will be donated. 

Bob Schmidt, Garden Club:  Bob gave us a progress of the planting of 20 trees in the Hammock.   They were planted this winter and they are all still alive.  They include 6 oaks currently dormant, 6 crepe myrtle are leafing out and holly trees are doing well. 

Michael Jorgensen, Village Choir:  Michael reminded us this Sunday, March 12, 7 pm, the Village Choir will perform.  They will present “Happy Days Are Here Again”!

Shirley Moore, Red Hatters:  Shirley reported that she only has 12 women signed up for the Red Hatters Luncheon, on March 21 at Buffet City.  Ladies need to sign up on the Bulletin Board.

Rick Maag, Boat Club:  Rick reminded us of the St Patrick’s Day festivities will be held at the Hammock on Saturday, March 18.  There will be all kinds of activities and, of course, there will be food which will include sweet corn.  Lunch will start being served at 11 am.  The Boat Club Golf Cart Parade will be held on Saturday morning, March 18, preceding the St Patrick’s day festivities at the Hammock.  Participants will meet an 8:30 am with your cart decorated for St Patrick’s Day and will parade, starting at 9 am, thru the Park on every street except the dead-end streets.  Prizes will be awarded.  Rick also announced the Boat Club will continue as a full slate of officers for next year has been secured. They will have election on the first Thursday in April after Coffee.

Gypsy Leicht:  Gypsy reported that Dundee Pharmacy on Dundee Road through May you can get free Covid test kits.  Depending on your insurance how many you can get.  Dundee Pharmacy are open Monday-Friday from  9 am to 5:30 pm, closed on Saturday & Sunday.

          Beth Mikolayek, Social Club:  Beth announced that last Social Club election was held in 2015.  Today after Coffee at the Regular Social Club Meeting we will have the election of officers for the coming year.  When Coffee is over, the members off the election committee will pass out the ballots to all Social Club Members at coffee servers table.  The members of the executive board will be in the back also and we will hold our meeting from there.  The completed ballots will be given to the counters and they will begin counting.  Voting will continue to 9:40 am.  At the conclusion of the Social Club meeting, the new executive board members will be announced.

          Mike Mikolayek, Social Club:  Mike introduced the current board members of Social Committee.  He reported on the many accomplishments of the Social Club Board this last year.  They include:

  •    June all the table and chairs were taken outside and power washed and repaired when needed.

  •         The Clubhouse floors were stripped and three coats of wax were applied.  The kitchen was steamed cleaned. And the floor of the stage was resurfaced.  The floor in the entrance way had a serious problem caused by moisture.  The old tiles were stripped off and a gray replacement tile was installed. 

  •         The Social Club along with the BOE purchase the new black stoves in the kitchen.

  •         Helped raise money for the new audio visual (over $9000)

  •         Helped raise money for the improvements at the Hammock (over $13,000)

  •         Provided some great speakers at our regular meeting.

  •         Secured some special prices for paint at Sherwin William both indoor and outdoor

  •       Also working on an annual “Celebration of Life” in January, 2024, for the residents who have passed.

Beth also thanked Bobbi Haddix for her time on the Board.  She has done a wonderful job.

          Marianne Ortenzio, Quilt Club:  Marianne recognized the Quilt Club Members who are responibile for all the quilts that are on display in the Clubhouse today.  Marianne and Jacqui Biddle announced the winners of the Annual Quilt Club Raffle:
