Corona Virus Updates
7/7/2020 Email from President Cpoy Coronavirus case in LRV
Good morning everyone,
Yesterday we (BOD’s) received notice that we have our first confirmed case of coronavirus in our community. Our resident affected us doing fine. We understand they have a fever that comes and goes and a sore throat. Our resident tested last week and received a positive result yesterday. We have contacted everyone that our resident has come in contact with. Our resident went into quarantine 14 days ago today and so far no one our resident was in contact with is showing any symptoms.
We want to remind everyone to please be defensive with your health. Wear a mask at all times around people, wash your hands often, use hand sanitizer and stay home unless absolutely necessary. Also, remember not everyone believes in the coronavirus so please protect yourself!
Stay protected and healthy!
Hugs,
Marla
On behalf of the BOD’s LRV
To all,
I have received a few questions regarding the person's name who has the coronavirus in our community. This person is protected under the HIPPA LAW, so therefore we will not be sharing the name of anyone that is affected with the coronavirus. We will let you know that we have been in contact with the public health department of Polk County regarding tracing. How Tracing works: Polk County Health Department will contact the person affected with the virus, and get a list of everyone that they have been in contact with. They will call all those people and find out who they have been in contact with and so forth. We actually did not need to do anything as far as contacting those who had been in contact with the affected resident, but trying to be proactive we went ahead and obtain a list from the resident as to who they had been in direct contact with and have already notified them. I understand we’re all very concerned about the coronavirus and being affected with this disease but please be assured that we have followed all the guidelines set forth by the CDC and Polk County public health department.
Sincerely,
Marla, On behalf of the board of directors of Lake Region Village

6/8/2020 Email from President Coy re Corona Virus Phase III and Phase IV
It’s us again…with some news I am sure all of us will welcome regarding clubhouse, pool and hammock! After some deliberation The Bod’s of Lake Region, the Social Club Bod’s, and our Emergency Preparedness Leaders have decided to go ahead with Phase lll beginning Wednesday June 10th, and Phase lV beginning July 1st. After the July 1st Phase lV opening we will be monitoring very closely the states opening, and all the amusement parks and recreation areas throughout the state to see how cases go. We hope it goes well so we don’t have to pull back on anything we have already opened. We feel very comfortable that our residents are doing a great job in self-distancing, socializing, and being defensive of their own health and we want to continue on that path. We cannot begin to thank everyone for their support as we continue the opening of Lake Region Village. These are trying times and we will get through this together. I have attached in both word and pdf formats Phase lll and Phase lV and will distribute to those who do not have email that are still here in the community. The only difference between Phase lll and Phase lV, in Phase lV we will open the hammock to socializing but no food or fundraising at this time. Please be defensive with your health, protect yourself at all times, but protect yourself to those around you as well. Remember some people don’t always have the same opinion on how deadly this virus is, especially to the older generation.
Hugs, Marla

Opening of Lake Region Village...Phase l
The BOD’s of LRV, Social Club president Tony Macaluso, Social Club Secretary Barb Norsen, and our Emergency Disaster Committee Ree and Chuck Enlow have worked together to create a plan to start opening Lake Region Village. Attached is Phase l of a 5-phase plan. We cannot provide you with a start date for each Phase after Phase l as we are still reviewing and listening to Governor Desantis, President Trump, and the CDC to finalize each Phase for Lake Region Village.
When it comes to activities, i.e. cornhole, billiards, card playing, shuffleboard, you are responsible for sanitizing everything used after each event, hand sanitizer wipes and spray will be placed accordingly (please don’t take them). If this does not happen or you cannot find someone to handle this, then we will keep the activity closed until the park can be opened without restrictions. We will enforce this to ensure the health of everyone! If you use it, sanitize it please!!!! We will have a container of hand wipes in each room of the clubhouse (again, please don’t’ take them).
The reason for the M, W, F is to allow Gabriel/maintenance to clean and sanitize everything every day, i.e. tables, chairs, handrails, doorknobs, etc. Gabriel/maintenance are not responsible for cleaning billiard sticks, shuffleboard sticks, horseshoes, individual club items, etc. This is also the same for the pool. With the pool you will notice we have removed the covers on the railings going in and out of the pool. That is for contamination and cleaning of the rails.
We cannot ask you enough to please follow the guidelines to ensure not only you, but all of us stay safe and healthy during these special times.
Please note, times may change, openings may move faster, or we may need to pull back on some things. It will all depend on the coronavirus spread, you self-distancing, and following guidelines, and the safety of our community and our state.
Let’s all work together on this to keep everyone safe and healthy!
Sincerely,
Marla, on behalf of everyone listed above who worked and researched diligently to begin to open our wonderful community. We appreciate everyone’s patience.

PS. We understand some of you will be happy, some will be disappointed, and some will think they know better than us as to how to open the community. Every decision we made was based solely on protecting all of us at Lake Region Village. We want you to know that like anything, everyone has an opinion, and that is fine, but when your opinion becomes hateful or disrespectful, that’s when you have crossed the line. Let me remind you, that if you want to be able to make decisions like this, and any decision regarding Lake Region Village, there is always an annual election in February where you can become a board of director to make all these decisions. This is not a walk in the park! I by no means mean this in a hateful way, and I have always tried to be very honest with all of you about my feelings, but just know, we are volunteers here just like all of you, and no matter this board, previous boards, or boards in the future (no matter if you like the person), please be respectful of the person(s). The “majority” of the shareholders voted these BOD’s in office to represent our community. The BOD positions can be very rewarding but can also be very stressful when as a volunteer you are running a multi-million-dollar community and making decisions that you feel are the best for everyone!
Hugs, Marla

May 14th, we will be sending out our plan to start re-opening the community. This will be a very slow process that the BOD’s along with our Social Club President Tony Macaluso, the Social Club secretary Barb Norsen, and our Emergency Preparedness Directors Reed and Chuck Enlow have all worked on and shared input to do the best we can to keep our Residents as safe as possible during this pandemic.
Sincerely,
Marla Coy, President

4/1/2020 Email from President Coy re Corona Virus update.
Hello Friends,
The Governor has issued an executive order today directing all Floridians to limit movements & personal interactions outside the home to only those necessary to obtain or provide essential services or conduct essential activities. List can be found on the US Dept of Homeland Security. http://www.dhs.gov/ Even though this does not go into effect until midnight tomorrow night, please be smart about your movements NOW like we have been asking…we ask that you stay home. The BOD's does not support any gatherings anywhere, we know this is very difficult for all of us but we do not want one person in our community to become ill or lose their life. We can only pray that you all be smart about your movements. The Maintenance men will continue to work as they are essential to our park running (sewer plant, water treatment plant, etc.). The office staff will go down to Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday working 8-4 to maintain the work flow in the office. Please be safe and stay healthy.

Coronavirus update & other important information
Hi Everyone,
Now that the President of the Unites States has asked us all to continue social distancing and our Covid-19 cases in Polk County continue to rise, we are asking again for you to only conduct ESSENTIAL activities and appointments, please stay home otherwise! We are going to continue until April 30th to keep the clubhouse closed and all activities stopped. We will review the situation again at the end of April. Also, starting Tuesday March 31th the office doors will be locked to walk ins. Cindy and Sara will still be in the office and board members will still be available, but all non-essential work that you may need done will stop, i.e. faxing, copies, notary, etc. We ask that you drop your assessment payment in the drop box on the office door. Also, any correspondence, i.e. check out for heading north, can be dropped in the drop box as well. If you don’t need a contractor (ESSENTIAL) work (lawn mowing is ok), please don’t schedule one, lets try and keep all outside people out of the park! We have been very fortunate to still have no Covid-19 cases in the park. However, if you do, they can call the office (863-439-1623) for Cindy or Sara to sign them in and open the gate.
Please continue to pray for our community, and the entire world. This is something we have never seen. If you are traveling please be safe, and please stay healthy.

Hello Everyone!!
Well after some conversations amongst all the BOD’s, listening to the Florida governor, and our President of the USA, we have decided to keep all activities closed for 2 additional weeks. I know this is not what everyone wants to hear but this is what we NEED to do to keep everyone safe and more important, healthy. We will review again in 2 weeks and let you know our decision after that. Please remember the CDC has advised all people 65 an older to stay home. Please practice the 6ft separation when you must go outside.

3/13/2020 President Coy posted in Facebook
Right now we are anticipating a 14 day closure or until further notice. As far as going to work you are free to come and go from the park as you please it is the park activities that will no longer take place. Now if we would get a case in the park then the health department would take over as far as people being isolated and monitoring, we would have to see what happens then.

3/13/2020 Email from President Coy ALL ACTIVITIES ARE SUSPENDED
Hello again Everyone,
We would like to give you an update to the coronavirus situation. The infectious rate has doubled overnight in Florida! After speaking with Polk County Health Department today, the BOD’s has decided to STOP all activities in the community. This will include 5@5, dances, Art Show, St. Patrick’s Day, Chain of Lakes boat trip, Thursday coffee, Tuesday’s big show, and the sales office. The clubhouse will remain open until 5pm today so those residents who may need to retrieve personal items, i.e. quilts, paintings, etc. may do so. After that, the clubhouse, pool, hammock, cornhole, pickleball, shuffleboard, horseshoes, etc. (all activities) will stop until further notice. This will give us the opportunity to clean the entire park and close it until further notice. If you have been on a cruise, or will be returning from a cruise we would appreciate self-isolation for 14 days.
I do want to speak to the snowbirds. If someone in the park would be diagnosed with the coronavirus, the entire park would be isolated. This could be a problem especially for our Canadian families. Please if and when you do decide to leave, please notify the office so we have a good count on who remains in the community.
We cannot stop the mail, FedEx, contractors, etc. so please be mindful of what you are touching and your surroundings!!
