Visitors: No visitors today
Shari Haines, Serendipity: Today we can thank Jerry Ricketts in celebration of his 85th birthday today for our donuts and muffins. And when someone pays for the pastries, the Social Club furnishes the coffee and tea.
We had some wonderful events this past week. Starting with a beautiful Friday night at the Hammock. Then on Saturday we started with a Boat Club Breakfast and ended with a fantastic dance with the music. Sunday we all enjoyed by “Festival of Trees” here in the Clubhouse with refreshments served by the Craft Club. The winners of the tree contest were: First Place – Canada; Second Place – Pool Exercise; and Third Place – Corn Hole Club. Then in the evening we had opportunity to enjoy some great Christian music by Wyliers on Wheels. And then on Tuesday evening the “Atlantic City Boys” entertained us with fantastic music in the snowman jackets.
I want to thank all of you who donated food and money for House Blest (the food pantry in Haines City sponsored by the Haines City Ministerial Association). Your generosity was overwhelming. We filled that back of 4 SUVs with an amazing amount of food plus a very generous check. A special thanks to Roger Brown, Steve Taylor, Bruce Haines and a visiting relative of the Taylors for helping us load up the food for delivery and then going with us to unload and deliver it yesterday. I am going to say it again – You are amazingly generous and on behalf of my church, the New Horizon United Methodist, which is part of this food panty I say “THANK YOU”. There will be a lot of Haines City residents who will get some very items in their food bags Friday afternoon to make their Christmas dinner just a little better and brighter. And also, another big thank you from the Quilt Club for your participation.
Next week Barb Norsen will be here to do Serendipity. Bruce and I are headed north on Tuesday to celebrate Christmas with our family (and no one is going to tell me I have to stay put this year). Besides having Christmas with our family, I really need to hold that newest member, Peyton. I didn’t get to give him enough hugs at Thanksgiving.
Bob Stapleton, Oak Trail, had surgery this week. He is home recuperating. Also, it is good to see Ray Thoman, Sycamore, and Gary Rushford, Anchor, back with us this morning. Does anyone know of any one that we need to keep in our thoughts and prayers?
I am sorry to report the death of Barbara Mitchell. Barbara and Bob snowbird at 293 Wolverine. Barbara was 75 years old and had been dealing with cancer for the last few years. Cards can be sent to Bob at P O Box 170, Carson City, MI 48811. Please keep Bob and their family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.
A moment of silence in remembrance of Barbara Mitchell.
