Lake Region Coffee News – January 27, 2022

Jim Biddle was the MC today

Attendance – 250

New Residents, Kim Burch: Kim Burch reported on the new directory.  By the end of this week, Kim will have photographed about 423 households.  If you have not had your picture taken, she will still be taking pictures on Friday and Saturday.  There were no new residents to be introduced today.

Visitors:  Ree Enlow introduced their friends, Dave and Diane Phillips from Delaware; Dave Smith introduced his daughter and son in law from Michigan.

Shari Haines, Serendipity: Today we got to purchase our own donut or muffin and even had to pay for our coffee and tea.

I want to share with you all a “note” the Quilt Club received that you all need to hear – “To all at Lake Region:  The recent donations of food and a check of $330 was received with a thankful heart.  The food is very much in need at this present time and will likely be distributed before Christmas.  Your Park and the Quilt Club have been exceedingly good to House Blest over the past years.  Please accept and let others know of our sincere appreciation and thanks.”  Just to let you know the Quilt Club will again be accepting donations of nonperishable food for House Blest Food Pantry during their Village Walk on February 22, the morning of the Annual Meeting.

I want to take a few minutes to talk to you all about this room and chairs and tables.  On any given week these chairs and tables are set up and taken down at least twice if not more.  That is a lot of hard work.  Jamie Moore has graciously accepted the job as the chair coordinator.  That does not mean he does it all.  For example, on Wednesdays after line dancing, the main hall needs to be set up for Card Bingo in the afternoon and Coffee on Thursdays.  Most of the line dancers are women and they are willing to help, but they need help.  Then on Fridays the chairs and tables need to come down again for Chair Yoga and if there is an event on the weekend, back up they go again.  Every event usually has helped with this, but more volunteers.  You have heard it said many times “this park runs with volunteers”.   If you are willing to help, please let me know thru my email or text and I will give your name and phone number to Jamie so that he has more “Volunteers”.  One of my grandmother’s favorite sayings was “many hand make short work”.

I am sorry to report the death of Richard Caron.  Richard and Dot have a home at 291 Wolverine.  Dot told me that they have been in LRV for 26 years.  Richard was 85 years old and a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp.  He is survived by his wife, Dot; 6 children; 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.  Graveside services will be held at the Veterans Cemetery in Boscoan, New Hampshire.  Cards and words of sympathy can be sent to Dot at 10 Scarborough Road, Nashua, NH  03063.

A moment of silence in remembrance of Richard Caron followed by “TAPS” in honor of Richard’s service in the Marine Corp.
