Lake Region Coffee News – August 12, 2021

Shirley Shogren was the MC today.

Attendance:  63

New Residents, Kim Burch: There were no new residents for Kim to introduce today

       Visitors: No visitors today.

Marcia Besser, Out of Park Activities :  All Out-of-Park information is on the Bulletin Board in the West Hall. You can also find Out-of-Park info on the website: LakeRegionVillage.com.

Shari Haines, Serendipity: Today we got to purchase our own donut or muffin.  And we also had to pay for our own coffee and tea. Oh my, it is great to be back in LRV.  It is always great to go on vacation and especially when you get to share that vacation with your family, but there is nothing like your own bed and shower.

First thing, I want to thank Barb Norsen for pitch hitting for me the last two Thursdays.  She did a great job getting the info to you and then emailing me the news so that I could get the email out to all those who could not be here.  Thanks again, Barb.

Don Strasser, Mustang, has been in and out of the hospital the last couple of weeks.  He is home now.  We need to keep him in our thoughts and prayers also.

I got a Facebook messenger from Wes Wilson last week, but I didn’t find it until it was too late for me to get it to Barb.  Wes Wilson, back in Pennsylvania, reported that Linda has her last radiation treatment on August 4.  She is still getting immunotherapy three times a week.  Wes started his second week from knee replacement.  Getting better each day.  We expressed his thanks for all your support. Please keep Wes and Linda in your thoughts and prayer

I just need to tell you all that Facebook Messenger is not a good way to get info to me.  I don’t like to open it because I believe that is how we get our Facebook hacked.  You can always reach me at either of my email addresses – my personal on Gmail account (sharihaines41@gmail.com) or my coffee news on AOL account (shari.haines@aol.com).  And of course, you can always phone me.

Does anyone have any health concern or updates that they would like to share?

Announcements

Charlie Sponcil, President of the BOD:  Charlie reminded us that when putting branches and yard waste out for the garbage men to pick us, it must be either in a trash can, bagged, or tied in a bundle. If this is not done, they will not pick them up if this is not done.  Every time you do not comply; it will be a $25 charge.

Betty Akerman, President of the Social Committee:  Betty announced that the next take-out Sunday Dinner will be Sunday, August 22.  Pick up will be from 2 pm – 3pm.  The menu will include baked mostaccioli, garlic bread, salad and dessert.  They are selling tickets today and next Thursday. Tickets are $7.50.  It sounds delicious; hope more people sign up

Shirley Shogren:  Shirley urged us all to volunteer and sign up.  There is no one signed up to serve coffee next month, no one to be the MC, and no one to do the 50/50. Next week we have no one to open and close the pool and clubhouse. If we want to have coffee, we need to volunteer.  The same few people shouldn’t have to do it all the time.

A shout out of “Thanks” goes to

Char Pickereign for turning on the coffee

       Bob Hoyle for the sound

       Piano: Bill Bell

Alice Reed for counting heads and those wonderful muffins

Cashier: Ned Kinzie for taking our money

Kitchen Crew:  Miriam Harcek, Al Wilson, Donna and Bob Stapleton

$17.00 – David Rhodes

$5.00 - Name Tag: Patti Singer (no name tag)

                              Betty Akerman (no name tag)

                              Shirley Moore

Social Club Drawing winner of $80.00 from the membership list was Roger Phillips.  Roger was not present.  Next week the drawing will be $85.00.

When I found this thought of the week, it reminded me of the awesome week Bruce and I just spent with our entire family all in one place (except one).  There were 12 of us sharing four bedrooms plus a loft and 2 bathrooms. But it also reminded me of our LRV family.  We are so blessed.

Thought for the week

Being a family means you are a part of something very wonderful.

It means you will love and be loved for the rest of your life.
