I had a phone call this week from Mary Smelser back in Michigan.  She wants everyone to be aware that there will be NO Michigan Picnic this year.

Alice Petersen, Peacock, fell this week and fractured her hip in 4 places. She is in the hospital and will be transferred to a rehab facility.

Does anyone have any health concern or updates that they would like to share?

I am sorry to report the death of Joe Angelo, 371 Hawkeye, on June 30 at his son’s home in Chesterton, IN.  He had cancer.  Please keep Joe’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

This morning I received a call from Peggy Wanamacher, Aloha.  I am sad to report that Bob Wanamacher passed this morning at 5 am.  Bob is survived by his wife, Peggy, 4 children, many grandchildren and his twin brother, Roland (Golden).  He was a Veteran of the Korean War in 1950 to 1953 in the Marines.  Bob was 90 years old.  Please keep Peggy, Roland, and the rest of Bob’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

A moment of silence in remembrance of Joe Angelo and Robert Wanamacher followed by Taps in honor of Bob’s service in the Marines.

Candy Staebel, Emergency Preparedness:  Candy reported that she still needs Block Captains.  If you are willing to serve as a Block Captain, please see her after the meeting.

Warren Law, Board Member:  Warren on behalf of his wife, Marlene, expressed her thanks and appreciations for all the cards, calls, and good wishes.  She has knee surgery and then had complications in this hospital and has ended up with a large wound on her heal which has hindered her from doing her PT.

Warren also has been trying to be the “food captain” here in the park.  There are receptacles in the Clubhouse and at his home on Oak Trail.  The donations are taken to the Care Center south on 27.  On June 4th 265 pounds of food were donated by the “food fairies” and on July 8th 471 pounds of food were donated.  Good job everyone!! There are several places in the area where you can donate food.  “We may have but there are those who don’t.“  So if you have an extra can of something, the barrels are here in the Clubhouse and at Warren’s home at 604 Oak Trail
